How to Use the Old Tax Regime Calculator
Enter your annual income, select your age group, and enter your eligible deductions. The calculator subtracts the applicable deductions from your income, applies the relevant Old Tax Regime slabs, calculates the applicable rebate and cess, and shows your estimated total tax liability.
What Is the Old Tax Regime?
The Old Tax Regime allows eligible taxpayers to claim certain deductions and exemptions while calculating taxable income. These may include eligible deductions under sections such as 80C and 80D, subject to the applicable rules and limits.
Old Tax Regime Deductions
The Old Tax Regime may allow eligible taxpayers to claim deductions such as Section 80C, Section 80D, eligible home-loan interest and other permitted deductions or exemptions, subject to the applicable conditions, limits and documentation requirements.
How Old Tax Is Calculated
The calculator first subtracts the applicable standard deduction and eligible deductions from gross income to determine taxable income. It then applies the age-based Old Tax Regime slabs, calculates the applicable Section 87A rebate, surcharge where applicable, and 4% Health & Education Cess to estimate the final tax liability.
Old Tax Regime Example
For example, a taxpayer with ₹10,00,000 annual income, ₹1,50,000 in eligible deductions, and below 60 years of age will have the applicable deductions considered before the Old Tax Regime slabs are applied. The calculator then estimates the rebate, cess and final tax liability.
